About Me

If you found your way here, I consider that a giant step forward for this technically challenged newbie blogger! Welcome to my tiny corner of blog-land! Let me tell you a bit about me. I'm Heather - mother, friend, and wife of a tolerant and patient man. We laugh together and DIY together. I decided months ago that it was time to quit being a lurker and grow myself into blogging - not an easy transition for this fiftysomething-is-the-new-fortynothing homemaker! Transition and I have always been good friends. We're like a pair of old slippers and a hot chocolate! In a past life I transitioned from the rainbow nation of South Africa to the fair and pleasant land of England. Eight years ago ol' Blighty led me halfway around the world to the Lucky Country, and my journey here has taken me from the beaches of southern Sydney to the bushland of south-east Queensland. I am, to all intents and purposes, a Queenslander born abroad! And I'm still evolving.

I've learned that it doesn't take much to put a smile on my face....happy chill-out times with family and friends; a beautiful but comfortable home in which to chill; three amazing dogs without whom life would be so boring; a walk on the beach; shells and driftwood along the tide line; sipping a sundowner at the end of a day while sharing the day's little pleasures and treasures. What more does a girl need? This little blog was born from a desire for change - not any old change, but a sea change. It's a chance to dip these toes more regularly in the sea, enjoy long walks together on the beach with our dogs, sniff the salty air, gather driftwood and shells, and recapture the happy, carefree days of my surfer girl youth. Join us as we journey from creek to coast, tree to sea, bush to beach - and beyond. It's our way of recording our journey for others to enjoy, and ourselves to remember - a little bit of this....and a whole lot of that! I welcome you to enjoy it with us.
